Our U. P. Thunder Riders are busy daily or nightly working on our trails. We have been fortunate to receive snow just about daily! Temperatures last night got down to close to zero, so that helped to set things up and day time temps have been cooperative as well. It looks like Saturday and Sunday temperatures may be above freezing, so early and late sledding may be better than day riding. After that little warming spell, we are going to be back to regular cold temperatures. Tuesday and Wednesday are supposed to bring snowstorms our way. That’s great for everyone! We can’t wait!
Our groomers are reporting the following conditions on our trails:
Trail 2 going west of Watersmeet – Very Good
Trail 2 going east of Watersmeet – Very Good
Trail 3 going north of Trail 2 to Bond Falls and Trail 8 – Very Good
Trail 3 going south of Watersmeet to Land O’ Lakes – Good – There are some rocks mixing in with the snow by the Wisconsin border due to lower snow depth.
Trail 13 going south of Trail 2 towards the Cisco Chain of Lakes – Very Good
We are expecting a lot of traffic again this weekend, but our groomers will do everything they can to keep our trail system in the best shape they can be in. It’s a great time to come up or make plans for a trip soon.
Due to the temporary closure of the Dancing Eagle Hotel at the Lac Vieux Desert Casino, we know people have had to find other accommodations for the weekend. If you are still looking for a place, please call Caryl at the Chamber number, 906-358-9961 for an update on openings or for trail reports, but as of right now, we know of openings at: Vacationland Resort, 906-358-4380, The Arrows, 906-358-4390, Jay’s Resort, 906-358-4300, and Majestic Point, 630-986-0948. These places are on Thousand Island Lake on the Cisco Chain. Wind Drift Resort on Lac Vieux Desert also has a one bedroom available, 906-544-2262. If we hear of other openings, we’ll let you know, but don’t hesitate to call Caryl or email me at visit@watersmeet.org for more information.
Happy Sledding! Thanks much for visiting our website. We hope to see you soon!
