Watersmeet Chamber of Commerce Snowmobile Trail Report – February 12, 2017

Hi Everyone ~

We have an update on trail conditions from the U. P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club.  With the extra 8″ of snow this week, they say there is a world of difference on the trails.  Our guests have reported they couldn’t have been happier to be here this week…great trails and a lot of fun to boot!  We had a little drizzle with temps above freezing yesterday, but it didn’t hurt us at all.  We have over freezing temps coming tomorrow, but it should not affect us especially since it will be a cloudy day.  It’s a great time to come up!

The following is the trail report we received:

Trail 3 North to Bond Falls:  Very good
Trail 3 South to Wisconsin:  Very good (we heard this afternoon this one was a little rough but the groomers were/are out this afternoon and tonight)
Trail 2 West of Watersmeet – Good with one signed wet area west of Trail 13 South
Trail 2 East of Watersmeet – Very good
Trail 13 South – Very good

Large snow “bumps” can form by the numerous bridges on our trail system in between groomings.  Please slow up and cross the bridges at an appropriate speed and please be careful.

For all you fishermen out there, we heard good reports of nice bluegills and some big northerns this weekend, too!  So much to do in the northwoods….so little time!

If you need help with finding accommodations for this coming weekend, give us a call at 906-358-9961.  Caryl will try to help you find something and can also give you a live up-to-date snowmobile trail report.  We hope to see you soon.

Thanks for visiting.  And don’t forget the Bent’s Camp Annual Radar Run and Bikini Run Benefit for the Frosty Snowmobile Club of Land O’ Lakes.  It’s the big winter event and one you won’t want to miss it!  They’ll be serving breakfast starting at 7 a.m. and registration begins at 10 a.m. with the first run at 10 a.m..  Fees are one run for $10 or 3 for $20.  Registration loses at 2 p.m.  Bikini run will be from 3 to 3:30 with registration closing at 3 p.m.  Bikini run is free.  The chili feed will be held out on the ice.  Bent’s will be open from 7 a.m. and well into the night.  Come on up and get in on the fun and help a good cause.
