Area Report: Who would think that everything would be wrapped up by this time? Our snowmobile season started late and ended up early this year much to all of our dismay. The in-between parts were great with lots of happy sledders enjoying some terrific trails.
All of us here at the Watersmeet Chamber of Commerce would like to take a moment to thank all of you who chose our area for your visits. We hope you went home with plenty of great memories that will bring you back our way again next year. With a record year like this one that spanned 130 years, we feel pretty confident that another one like this won’t happen any time soon. We hope we will be able to tell you that the trails will be up and groomed again for a December 1 opening like 2014!
We also want to thank our groomers, volunteers, officers and our trail boss, Larry Potter, who has kept our U. P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club running smoothly for twenty years now. They do a fantastic job of not only the grooming part but also spend countless hours on keeping the equipment in tip-top shape, in planning, checking and brushing trails, and so many other things that we often just take for granted. It’s a big job and we are so thankful for what they do.
We had snow off and on all day and night yesterday, and we got a few inches of snow last night. I think it’s our last wave at winter, so until then, thank you again. We’ll let you know how things are going here in November. Have a great year. If you love it in the winter, we invite you to visit other times of the year as well. It’s great here any time! And if you are planning an ATV or UTV trip, give our area a try for that as well.
Thank you.
