Our Past

Watersmeet Baptist Church began in the Spring of 1931, when two young evangelists came to town and held some meetings.  In the mid-thirties, the unused Fuller Schoolhouse was bought for a dollar and moved to the corner of A Avenue and Second Street.

In 1996, the church voted unanimously to build a new church facility.  The land on the corner of Basphy Road and U.S 2 was purchased.  Within 2 weeks of the church's decision, all the money that was needed came in to purchase the property.  Donations of money and labor for the building came in from all across the country.  The shell was erected in the spring of 1998 and the church body moved into the newly completed building debt free in November of 1999.

How the Lord Jesus Christ has blessed so far in the building project:

Laid it on the hearts of God's people to build, followed by a unanimous church vote to do so.

Led us to a piece of property that was not on the market.

Provided the $10,000 for purchase of the property in 2 weeks time.

As we looked for plans and ideas the Lord led us to Morton Builders.

After several church meeting, preliminary plans were drawn up and again the vote was unanimous to go with the plan.

The Lord held off the bad weather on the day of the property dedication.  Though rain threatened all around, the clouds parted and we had sunshine!

Throughout this time God has raised up generous individuals around the country and in the Church to donate.

The well was anonymously donated.

The Lord provided for the installation of our electric service through funds that the Township had set aside for the light at the corner, benefiting both the town and us.

The building inspectors have been a great help and have approached from time to time with good suggestions.

The Lord has worked through the Tribe to offer and to donate labor and equipment to help with our project.

The Alert Program has volunteered to help with interior framing and drywall

Interest and excitement in this community has been high throughout the project.

Our Purpose

As a body of believers in Jesus Christ, we believe our purpose is two-fold.  One, to love the Lord our God with everything and in everything.  Seeking to do His Kingdom's purposes.  Second, to love our neighbors as ourselves.  To selflessly minister to people in our area; residents, visitors, or otherwise, in the Lord's Name.

Our Verse

...Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith...Hebrews 12:1&2
